Choosing a Hollywood mirror: how to find the right one

A good make-up mirror is all about light. Ordinary ceiling light casts shadows under your eyes and makes your skin look yellow or dull. A Hollywood mirror has bulbs all around the glass, so your face is evenly lit from every side. That way you can see exactly how your foundation, contouring and eyeliner look in daylight.

Bulbs or LED strip?

A classic Hollywood mirror has separate round bulbs, just like in a theatre dressing room. On the 58 × 46 cm models there are 15 dimmable LED bulbs, on the XL there are 18. A mirror with an LED strip has one continuous band of light around the glass: a calmer look and just as even. Choose what suits your interior best.

What else to look for

  • 3 light colours: cool light to check your make-up, warm light for the evening. All our Hollywood mirrors have this.
  • Dimmable with memory: on most models the mirror remembers your favourite setting.
  • Detail mirror: a 10x magnifying mirror for brows and eyeliner. The Chantally 40 × 30 cm has a 5x magnification.
  • Bluetooth: with the Capucine, the Celine XL and the LED strip XL you can listen to music or a podcast through the mirror.
  • Cordless: the round Claíre has a built-in battery and can stand anywhere.

Which light colour is best for make-up?
Cool or neutral light is closest to daylight and is best for checking your make-up. Warm light is nicer for the evening. Our Hollywood mirrors have 3 light colours, so you can switch.
