Your electric blanket is ready on the sofa. But how do you use it most conveniently? Which setting do you choose, how does the timer work and how do you wash it without anything going wrong? And perhaps you are wondering what such a blanket actually costs in electricity. In this guide you will read how to use the OMNIEXA heated throws and how to calculate the power consumption of your own blanket.

Step 1: before first use
Read the manual supplied with the blanket carefully before switching it on for the first time. It explains exactly how to connect the controller and what to do and not to do.
- Choose your spot: sit near a socket, so the cord does not lie across the walking route.
- Connect the controller: on the grey/white blanket you disconnect the controller before washing. Afterwards you reconnect it as described in the manual.
- Controller within reach: keep the remote control next to you, so you can adjust the warmth without getting up.
Step 2: warming up and choosing the right setting
The grey/white blanket has 9 heat settings. According to the product description, this works best:
- Preheating: set the blanket to setting 9 ten minutes before you sit down.
- Switching back: once you snuggle underneath, switch back to a lower setting to keep the warmth in.
- Fine-tuning: from a gentle glow while working from home to full warmth after a cold walk. Choose what feels nice to you.
The pink blanket has several heat settings, from gently warm to nice and hot. With both blankets you control the warmth with the remote control, so you do not have to get up.
Step 3: use the timer
On the grey/white heated throw you set a timer from 1 to 9 hours. After that, the blanket switches itself off. Match the timer to your evening: the length of a film, an episode or an hour of reading. Both blankets also have an automatic switch-off. Handy, and this way you also decide yourself how long the blanket uses power.
Step 4: how to wash your blanket
- Grey/white: disconnect the controller first. Then the blanket can go in the washing machine at 30°C.
- Pink: machine washable.
When washing, drying and storing, always follow the instructions supplied with the blanket.
How much power does an electric blanket use?
The power consumption of an electric blanket depends on three things: the power rating in watts, how long it is on and what you pay per kWh. You will find the power rating of your blanket in the manual. The product descriptions of our blankets do not state a power rating, so check the manual for that.
This is how you calculate it:
power (watts) × number of hours ÷ 1000 × electricity price per kWh = cost
A worked example, for illustration only. Suppose a blanket uses 100 watts and you pay €0.30 per kWh. Please note: these are example figures, not the power rating of our blankets and not your electricity price.
| Use | Calculation | Cost (example) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 hour | 100 × 1 ÷ 1000 × €0.30 | €0.03 |
| 3 hours, an evening on the sofa | 100 × 3 ÷ 1000 × €0.30 | €0.09 |
| 3 hours a day, 30 days | 100 × 90 ÷ 1000 × €0.30 | €2.70 |
For your own calculation, enter the power rating from the manual and the electricity price of your energy supplier. Also check in the manual whether the power differs per heat setting. You will find your electricity price on your energy bill or in your supplier's app.
What else to look for
- Safety: according to the product description, the grey/white blanket has overheating protection, double insulation and a CE marking.
- Use the timer: that way the blanket is not on longer than you want.
- Colour and size: grey/white suits virtually any interior and is nice for one person. The 180 × 160 cm pink blanket is big enough for two, or for wrapping yourself up completely.
- If in doubt: consult the manual or contact us. We are happy to help.
Complete your evening
- Soft light: you can place a cordless table lamp such as the Dayana table lamp or the gold table lamp, set of 2 next to the sofa without an extra cord.
- Candlelight: LED glass candles gold/amber create atmosphere without an open flame.
