Your dog following you everywhere, even when you want a moment of peace. A rabbit exploring the entire living room. Or a trip to the vet with your dog restlessly sliding back and forth on the back seat. Sound familiar? A pet often feels more comfortable with a fixed place of its own. And for you it brings calm and order. In this guide you will read how to choose supplies that suit your animal and your home.
Which pet, which place?
Start with your animal and how you live together. A dog that needs its own corner at home calls for something different than a dog that often comes along on outings. And a rabbit or hamster mainly needs space to move.

Step 1: a fixed place for your dog at home
Many dogs like having a place of their own where they can retreat. A dog crate can be such a place, for example in a quiet corner of the living room. When choosing, pay attention to the material, how your dog gets in and out and how easily you can move the crate.
The MAZAZU Honoré dog crate is made of welded wire with a powder coating. The corners and edges are rounded, so there are no sharp protrusions for your dog or for you. There are two doors, so your dog easily gets in and out, and L-shaped latches keep both doors securely closed. With the built-in handle you can easily move the crate. You assemble it with the included manual and fixings.
Tip: measure your dog and the spot where the crate will go before you order. Your dog must be able to stand, turn and lie in it comfortably.
Step 2: out and about with your dog
Do you often go out with your dog, for example to visit family, to the woods or on holiday? Then a travel crate is handy. Your dog has a familiar place on the road and you know where it is.
The black MAZAZU foldable dog crate is a travel crate and pet bag in one. It measures 60 × 42 × 42 cm and has a metal frame that keeps the crate in shape. The cushion is washable, so the sleeping spot stays fresh. In the storage pockets you put small items for the journey, such as poop bags or treats. When you are not using it, you fold it up and it takes up hardly any space. You use it in the car and at home.
- At home: set the crate up open with the cushion inside, so your dog gets used to it.
- On the road: take the same crate with you, so your dog has its own familiar place everywhere.

Step 3: space for a rabbit, hamster or other small pet
Small pets want to run, sniff around and hide. The more space, the better. So look mainly at the floor area of a cage.
The MAZAZU Daelion pet cage in grey measures 143 × 73 × 46 cm. With that length your pet has plenty of space. It is suitable for a rabbit, hamster or dog, for example. The grey, calm design fits in your living room or wherever your pet lives.
Put a hiding place, a food bowl and water in the cage, and leave enough free space to move around.
And your cat?
For cats it is mainly about scratching, climbing and a place to sleep. We wrote a separate guide about that: Choosing a cat tree: what to look for? In it you can read more about our cat trees, such as the compact Kyros, the Kyssara with hammock and cat house and the Khanaris with warm felt. You will find everything for your cat in the cats collection.
What to look for
- Size: measure your animal and the spot in the house or in the car. A crate or cage must suit both.
- Place in the house: choose a quiet spot, out of draughts and not in full sun, where your animal still has contact with the family.
- Cleaning: a washable cushion, as with the foldable dog crate, makes maintenance easy.
- Moving: do you want to change the spot now and then? Then a handle, as on the Honoré, or a foldable model is handy.
Tips to help your pet settle in
- Make it cosy: put a familiar blanket or toy in the crate or cage.
- Build it up slowly: let your animal first explore on its own, with the door open.
- Reward: give a treat when your animal goes in of its own accord. That way it becomes a pleasant place.
- Never use it as punishment: your pet's own place must always remain somewhere your animal likes to go.
